climbed under the truck and pulled the bash plate off to have a look at the PTO to see where all the pools of oil are coming from

had a hunt around the shed and found some old PTO's and picked out the best looking forward reverse one that looked pretty clean and dosent look like its been leaking and stuck it on and put the old one aside to get a new bearing and seal on a rainy day

while the linkage for the lever was off I lengthened it 120mm on the PTO side to get more travel out of the lever in the cab, the whole setup is a mixed up hybrid, unknowen T handle lever, Cruiser linkage and PTO, PTO shaft is made up of 2x nissan shafts and a bit of cruiser at the PTO end and a nissan winch on the front, when the linkage was setup for the T handle lever it ended up a slush box with only about 20mm movement to select forward-neutral-reverse and most of that was slop from flogged out joints in the linkage, forward and reverse would typically both select within the centre gate on the lever making it a real pain in the arse to get the PTO back into neutral

now the linkage is lengthened and the flogged out joints are tightened up and I've got about 110-120mm travel between forward and rerverse.... I wont be sucking bullbars into the fairlead anymore

I still cant reach the lever with the harness on but at least I can engage and disenge it properly now
