Going Green ? HHO/Hydrogen hybrid ? thoughts???
been chatting to a dude who does hydrogen fuel cells ....very secret squirrel stuff........
claims 25% power increase and over 40% less fuel usage cleaner burning removes all carbons less oil changes etc ...done abit of reading searching seems viable these are not for sale but i seem to have got my sticky paws on one hes real keen to toss in my saffy as am i
any thoughts this shit involving elements is way over my head????

The drawbacks of hydrogen use are low energy content per unit volume, high tankage weights, very high storage vessel pressures, the storage, transportation and filling of gaseous or liquid hydrogen in vehicles, the large investment in infrastructure that would be required to fuel vehicles, and the inefficiency of production processes. Has been used to put rockets into space, (when were you planning on jumping the beehive). Trials around the world at thw moment with buses running Hydrogen fuel cells as opposed to hydrogen powered.
Re: Going Green ? HHO/Hydrogen hybrid ? thoughts???
unit is quite small slightly bigger than air con unit draws 2 to 4 volts to run switchable (on/off) uses about .5 ltr water per month is tapped into inlet mani supposed to burn unburnt fuel
at the moment they are being tested on larger vehicles.... hes putting one on his paj v6 but is keen to run on my saffy .....for advertising.....

Sounds interesting, the US military are supposedly using fuel cells to power personal equipment and they use a very pure alcohol as the fuel. I think it was lighter than an equivalent battery system.
What is the purpose of the fuel cell, are you charging batteries or running motors to provide drive?
Sounds strange to use fuel from the intake manifold when you can take the fuel straight from the gas tank.
Anyways I like the sound of an electric motor on each wheel of my 4x4, the traction control available would be outstanding. Imagine no fiddle sticks and lockers, just knob or program to control the torque distribution to each wheel....

Taz, I would rather see you invest in feeding the Saphie?? a small amount of LPG. This as an aid to burning the Diesel thats already going in.
According to latest information, we are heading into a mini ice-age, with much reduced sunspot activity, predictions are the we will see frost fairs on the Thames in London within 50 years. Therefore, we need to stuff as much CO2 and carbon gases as we can into the atmosphere.

Just read this a bit better, so the fuel cell uses battery power to split water into hydrogen and oxygen then pumps this into the intake manifold to burn unburnt gasses??? And from this you get 25% increase in power and 40% reduction in fuel consumption??? If this is true, it sounds like a hoax to me.
The power you'll use to split the water will be what you get back when you burn it again less losses along the way so you'll lose power ultimatly.

yep something like that....looking into it the gas burns hotter igniting unburnt fuel that is missed by the engine like i said way over my head....hey its free what do i have to lose? if it doesnt work no biggie if it does guess everyone wants one.........going to mount in the gas guzzling whale first to test for myself if all good swap over setup in the shorty

Let us know how it goes and make sure if it damages the engine he'll pay for the repair.
Re: Going Green ? HHO/Hydrogen hybrid ? thoughts???
Oh yeah, by definition that unit isn't a "fuel cell" but a "hydrolysis unit".
A fuel cell produces electricity from the combination of a fuel and oxygen.
Hydrolysis produces hydrogen and oxygen from water and electricity.
You also might want to be careful as to how the hydrogen is stored oherwise you could end up with an explosion if it's done incorrectly.

A mate of mine over in oz owns a big 4wd work shop designs all his own stuff just finished designing a super charger, he is really clued up anyway he fits these water to gas systems he installs over 20 a week, as one On his Range Rover. He as guys coming back saying any were from 20% to 50% better fuel enconmy
Re: Going Green ? HHO/Hydrogen hybrid ? thoughts???
This is what company my mates uses http://www.watertogas.com/
Re: Going Green ? HHO/Hydrogen hybrid ? thoughts???
I'm sorry but that looks like a load of bs. Prove me wrong.
Re: Going Green ? HHO/Hydrogen hybrid ? thoughts???
gotta say looking more viable than first thought yes will ask for guarantee on engine before fitting

uses about .5 ltr water per month
you have been taken for a ride.
its not a hydrogen fuel cell. fuel cell turns stored hydrogen into electricity.
all it is is HHO unit as been debated/flamed many times before.
the simple way you can tell its crap is that it only uses .5 liters of water a month. the amount of gas produced is so tiny its worthless. it will have no benefit what so ever.
the scam usually works along the lines that your engine must be "tuned" to suit it. this is where ALL the gains come from. a simple tweak of ignition and fuel.
Re: Going Green ? HHO/Hydrogen hybrid ? thoughts???
We had a guy come to one of our club meetings a while back who made these things, he had an H1 hummer that was supposedly running on 100% hydrogen.
It had these 2 pvc tubes with a couple of small wires coming from them, It supposedly produced hydrogen on demand and the engine just used what it needed. There was no need for storage.
He couldn't explain to us how he regulated engine speed as the Diesel, given unrestricted fuel should have just revved its tits off.
Then he told us about how he invented a bullet proof suit (used magnets to repel bullets
) and how he invented a heater that used no fuel (he made a perpetual motion motor to run it
)
About this point we decided he was a crackpot and obviously had no faith in his hydrogen cells running vehicles.
I guess it must be said that producing hydrogen from water with electricity and dissimilar metals is nothing new but using it to power a vehicle is still debatable.

i may have called it wrong by saying fuel cell i admitted this shit over my head but am learning now .......but you guys should read the threads name ....HYDROGEN/HYBRID..........
this smart dude figured it out....

Haha the good old nz way of thinking everything is bull shit till proven so this guy as put one in his 140,000 dollar Range Rover put over 2000 of these kits into his customers cars as never had one bad feed back. And he as just put US patent on his super charger he as made

I have developed products that have been patented and my name's on the patent. If I could prove that it didn't work by using chemistry and a little maths would you believe me?

That's abit of topic they all come with a 100 day money back guarantee. As not had one person come back. I mite have to try one for myself, I remember making them at school and putting the gas we made into balloons and then lighting them in the rugby field dam was like a small atomic bomb going of. We did test on the gas and it was 3 times more explosive then petrol

go ahead and try it.
sounds like you have already been sold on it regardless of what anyone says.
i would advise you keep a fire extinguisher handy as they are known for exploding.
do some accurate logging of fuel consupmtion. need a least a few weeks of recorded fuel put in and mileage done before fitting the unit. also it needs to be about right for that vehicle and note type of driving (city/highway) post up the raw data so we can check your maths.
do not allow ANY other mods done to engine. eg no tuning to "suit the unit".
my prediction is there will be no gain.
you will go back and discuss it with said person who will then reply that your vehicle is an "odd motor" and the system needs a few extras.
generally they will either sell something like a frequency converter for the HHO unit or one of many engine mods which typically lean out the engine and increase the timing.
