G16A wiring into sj413

Post by dean zuk »

Righto I've finally got my 413 to the stage of wiring, so i pulled all the loom out of the donor truck and moved it to the lounge floor to be stripped down. All the tapes now been taken off and i got up the wiring diagram i had found on the net, but it doesn't seem to much up? (or i'm reading it wrong
).

So does anyone know the colours of the wires i need to keep to splice in, and the plugs or have a diagram they know to be correct?
I'm using these at the moment:

Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

I did the same conversion a number of years ago and vaguely memember similar issues (although it was certainly worth the hassle :D ).

Try:
Wiring diagram (but colours may not match exactly: http://suzukiinfo.com/vitara/tracker_89-90_wiring_diagram.jpg
ECM connector plug connections for 8v conversion: http://web.archive.org/web/20100601095307/http://www.yankeetoys.org/mini4x/efiswap/efiswap.htm

You can also try PM'ing Ben on here as he sells adaptor kits which come with some wiring hints.

Good luck

http://www.suzukiinfo.com Has the best info I have found . Looks like its an 8v engine ?( well thats an 8v diagram you are looking at ) G16A can be 8 or 16v .

Worst case just trace each wire from the ecu plug out to its end , tag it and follow any other wires off the plug . What ever is not tagged cut off . There will only be about 6 wires coming from the ecu going nowhere , tach signal , eng check light etc . You should be able to keep the two relays , ecu and fuel pump etc .

Just remember black/white wires are not earth :) Shame its not a 16v and a day earlier , could have take a pic of a stripped down loom on the lounge floor :)

That could have been handy :x , btw what are the black/white wires, seemed to be everywhere...

One more quick question, the "brown" wire that is meant to be spliced into the tacho wire is actually a white into grey then white again wire in my loom, and seems to be rather long(would have gone well into the engine bay), would this still be the right wire to splice in? :?: (its in the right place on the pin out)

Cheers for the help,
Dean

Black/white ( black with white stripe ) are power wires with ign on , should go to most of the sensors and ecu etc (16v wiring ).

Off the top of my head the tach feed is off the noise suppressor up by the coil going to the instrument cluster . ie not feed from the ecu , so this would explain the long wire .

Just looked at the 8v diagram and it shows this going to the ecu also , the two diagrams have different colours so not surprised yours is different again .

From memory when I did the last 8v lots of colours were off but the the pins were correct .
