Assorted questions (escudo mainly)...

Post by Filthy4x4 »

Righto, well after 2 days of testing the zuk in a paddock I managed to rip a rear shock out of the tower, drop all the transfer case oil and then pop the bottom of the same shock out

Needless to say its going under the knife (don't worry, build thread will be coming  )

First off I will start by saying its dedicated offroad, so its not going to be pretty with branded parts, im on a mission to build/fix/mod everything I can for it.

The questions I have are as follows:

1. What front shocks will fit the front that will give me a very decent extension ( I have commy shocks in the rear)/

2. Does anyone have a zuk on hilux diffs?

3. What factory rims have a decent offset? (15" 6 stud)

4. What springs fit the suzuki front top hats that are soft? Im aiming for a decent amount of flex.

5. Does anyone have any pics of the front end setup on a escudo with coiled hilux diffs?

Thats it for now, had more to ask but got serious brain fade while typing the first question out  I will post up more when I find more things I need to learn

Cheers

Caleb

As for the first question, you need to flex it up and measure between the shock mounts at full extension and full compression. This will determine the appropriate shock.

This is the problem im facing... it doesnt flex in the front  its rock hard.

It apparently has mitsubishi v3000 shocks in it with factory zuk springs and top hat, but im thinking it might be a v3000 spring as well, the ride is absolutely horrible (leaves would be a huge luxury in comparison).

The questions I have are as follows:

OME are the only ones I know of but I do have the drawings for strut extenders, I can get them made for $150 a pair but I will have 2 for sale soon

2. Does anyone have a zuk on hilux diffs?

I'm just about to do that conversion

3. What factory rims have a decent offset? (15" 6 stud)

Don't know, I used standard rims as the wheels can tuck up under the guards.

4. What springs fit the suzuki front top hats that are soft? Im aiming for a decent amount of flex.

Don't know, remove the sway bar will help heaps.

5. Does anyone have any pics of the front end setup on a escudo with coiled hilux diffs?

Mebbeh Lada springs?

You're welcome to come round and jack the Lada up and take a spring out, compare it to a Zuk one, and then put in back in and jack it down again 8)

Thats the kind of flex im wanting from the front... too bad there was no further info on that setup.

I havn't got any sway bars at all

Could be keen on the drawings of the strut spacers

Are you going with coils or leafs on your conversion?
