What is the best degreaser?
What is the best degreaser?

Hard to beat kero in a spray and wipe bottle, worked in with a 2 inch paint brush if it's real mucky. Cheap as chips and works great

Re: What is the best degreaser?
kero always works well but not really that cheap these days if your going through a lot of it, I've been using that POR15 marine clean stuff with good success, its not solvent based its caustic so you've got to watch your skin if you get too much direct contact with it, I had some get inside the gloves

Re: What is the best degreaser?
I tried K&H wax and grease remover from repco the other day, works pretty good but it was about $57 for 4 liters. Caustic is the best if you dont mind horrific jandal burn
Re: What is the best degreaser?
Ive had good success with the cheap stuff from supercheap ...if its really bad i just brush it to get off the baked on stuff before hosing it.
Re: What is the best degreaser?
Ask to borrow Ben's steam cleaner
Runs on half diesel and kero.
It will rip through anything and leave it nearly ready for painting.
Cheers,

I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
Re: What is the best degreaser?
when i worked on fishing boats we used a product called simple green totally safe for the enviroment and yourself and could strip grease off the winches like nothing ive ever seen briliant product
Re: What is the best degreaser?
We use stuff called super rip from pacer
http://www.pacer.co.nz/shop/product_inf ... 947391b2e8
This stuff is amazing. Way cheaper than super cheap stuff and 10X better. Put it in a spray bottle and spray it on before putting water on. Leave for 5min and water blast off. No scrubbing
Best to wear some of those chemical gloves, not great for your skin.
Oh and dilute it for stuff with average paint and plastics.

Re: What is the best degreaser?
Be very careful with degreases, If it can break down oil and grease it will not be paint friendly and will cause Aluminium to oxidise. We use Enviroclean(spelling) a Tergo product, after time it causes paint fade and oxidation of paint and aluminium. Read charts and dilute as required and hose off as soon as possible. Wear eye protection and

This one? Looks like a good idea. That suparip is really good but bloody harsh. Would this stuff be safe to go down the drain or still not advised?
Cheers,
Pete

Re: What is the best degreaser?
Well I will not be too worried about if it can go down a drain or not, one I have none near my house and two, it will jsut go on my already screwed front lawn.
But cheers guys, you have proved to be most helpful once again
