Pucker Parks New Monster Truck

Post by H2OLOVA »

We've taken the plunge and bought ourselves a Monster Truck to use for rides and promotion at Pucker Park 8) 8) Heading down to Wanaka tomorrow to pick it up. Have it in Ch Ch for a couple of weeks for a wee tidy up. Then up to Hanmer to drive over some cars  Has a 351 ford with a hot cam, and a C6 auto box. Tyres are the exact same size as every monster truck in the USA. 66 inches high 43 inches wide mounted on a 25 inch rim   Let the fun begin 8) 8) So if anyone can get onto a supply of cars for us to drive over let me know

They are interesting to drive, Have fun with it!!!!!!! I drove this one:

They have a few others too:

They use the one on the right in the background for the big jumps etc. After every jump it pretty much needs a rebuild...

Judging by Charlies age in this photo about 5 years ago, so yea before the ads (Caddie was parked up then too):

Can you get 66" HT tyre's? I was just worried about your economy and tread wear driving about with those chunky tyres on.

Nice one! :D

I've been watching this truck on TM for a while....! Glad to see that it has sold to someone on ORE!

I actually saw this truck in action in Auckland in the mid 90's at a stockcar event - fun fun!

Think he was asking $14k for it...

That's a lot of truck for the coin even if it needed a tidy.

Very Green  Will have to get down there for a ride one day 8)

Well the Pink Beast is now parked here in Ch Ch 8) Had to take the big wheels off to transport it, that was fun 500kgs each  you sure don't want the buggers falling over. Got to town with no dramas, so now the big tidy up begins. The interior (is it still called that if the car has no roof??) is buggered and the lower panels all have a bit of red steel in them. Mechanically it seems ok. A few oil leaks here and the but nothing major. We drove it onto the transporter so thats always a good start. Hopefully it will be looking a bit different in a couple of weeks. Will keep you all posted

Lol yep there would be a couple of cans there alright. I'm thinking gloss black might work  We had fitted some normal size truck tyres to keep it undersize for the trip home. Man it looked gay so today we put the BIG wheels back on. Took about 2 hours and that was using a forklift :? So definitely need to come up with a different process for that but hopefully practice will make perfect. We started the picture diary once we had it loaded on the truck so will keep them coming as we sort things out. If this is going to be a build thread then i better start making a list of things that need fixing so..............

Sort out interior. Either fix existing seats or fit alternate ones
Repair rust along bottom sills of body
Tidy up the wiring cause its Spaghetti city at the moment
Fix leak on hydro steer pump
Fit new frost plugs
Replace fuel lines
Change filter and oil in engine
Bleed up brakes
Repaint chassis/rims and body
and no doubt another list thats longer than this of stuff we haven't found yet.
Let the fun begin 8) 8)

Mate i'd need two FJ40 bodies to fill up the space   22 feet from end to end so its a hard job finding something else that would fit. We'll be sticking with the mighty Caddy for the mean time but it will be getting a makeover in the paint department. A bit of progress over the last couple of days. Power steer pump fixed, frost plugs done. Went to start it today but the fuel pump crapped out  So hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to run it up to temp and make sure the engines all good. Then the fun will really begin  Can't wait to actually drive it 8) 8)

I beg to differ if its going to be used for promotions & also giving rides around park (paid) it would need to be up to a certain standard ...maybe a COF or be registered as a fairground ride or something like that.
