Hey guys
I'm after a hard wearing, solid black finish underseal. Seen a lot of different brands but not sure what to go with. Anyone find a good one? Looking at por-15 but it's goddam pricey, got a tin of coldspray goldseal but not sure if it'l be hard wearing enough.
Any ideas?

Re: Best underseal for a chassis
the problem with a chassis is unless you put a lot of serious hard prep work in it only lasts 5 minutes and all the paint falls off and the rust comes straight back through it. I used POR15 and their chassis kote finish on top coz POR15 isnt UV rated and it ends up going all chalky and powdery if its not sealed over, when I weigh up the amount of prep work and all the hours of cleaning up and painting I did the 100 bucks for a litre of POR15 didnt even rate in the equation

yea very true saddam
prep work the key on alot of things and i used the chassis kote over my por15 too

Re: Best underseal for a chassis
ok
following this first question what do peolple do to treat the inside of the chassis rails expecially after one has welded mounts on etc
i was thinking of getting my chassis dipped but my budget may no longer be able to afford this option
so some how there needs to be a tool that could wire brush the affected areas and then another that could 360degree spray the inner rails afterwards
super open to ideas on this??

I would be interested to here what you do with the inside of a freshly welded chassis as well, have tryed drenching it with fish oil but I don't think it will cut the mustard.
Re: Best underseal for a chassis
with mine I thined out por15 and sprayed inside the rail with a few coats gave it a good drenching

If you wanted to just spray it with something (bearing in mind that there probably isn't anything more than rust on the inner walls of your chassis) you could just drill a 2.5pm hole opposite where you welded an get some rubberized underbody sealant with the little straw attached an hose it on the inner side of the welded chassis rail
Didn't barbie drive a jeep??

As far as painting the outside of the chassis goes, you'll be surprised how far a liter of por15 will go I put 3 coats in the inside of the tub on my fj40 an still had some left over to do the front chassis rails an that was a half liter tin, as saddam said it must be top coated tho

Can also use any brand of cavity sealer as used by most panel beaters.

Re: Best underseal for a chassis
I have a old mitsi jeep have had the inside done with rhino coating, and humming haring about underneath, was thinking of garnet blasting then getting por 15 done as well, is it the best for that work or am I better to have old school underseal.
