gq Nissan transfer case
gq Nissan transfer case
hi
question for the nissanites out there
is it possible to select 2wd low range, rather than 4wd low range?
is the high low range selector separate to the 2wd 4wd select.
obviously would have to mod the selector. Transfer behind automatic transmission
cheers

yeah not quite that easy as the hubs are hidden behind hub caps that are a mission to get off. If we can do it at the case alot easier to do in a hurry.
search weta warthog for pics

cause if you can mod the transfer then we can reduce wind up on tar seal, and then I don't have to climb under it when in deep mud etc to make it 4wd again, as for pics google will give what you ask !

Re: gq Nissan transfer case

cool exactly what I wanted to know . Thanks for that. Hang on, is the 4wd/2wd and high/low range select on the same shaft it appears there are 2, or other words how many "inputs" go into the transfer, you got pics of the linkages from cab to transfer?

Re: gq Nissan transfer case
There is only one selector shaft going into transfer case. It operates a lever inside that has a hinging tip. When the 4wd selector is moved into 4wd position, an interlock ballbearing drops into a slot on its shaft, and out of a slot on the low range selector shaft allowing it to move next.
I have a safari xfer case in bits, but would need to strip further to take photos. I can get some pics for you of a Terrano one which is very similar if you want

If you break it... build it stronger.

Re: gq Nissan transfer case
I remember reading once about some auzzies who had done it, with some internal mods to the shifter setup to make it work - it probably would've been on one of the auzzie forums that I read it.
Edit: ...a quick search found this http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/nissan-patrol-gq-y60-ford-maverick-11/gq-twin-stick-transfer-internal-disconnect-46580/ - looks like second poster knows all about it
