SJ 413 v Sammy diff width?

Post by Tarmac »

Sorry 2 sound ignorant but as I understand it the 413 has a narrower track width. When looking at aftermarket axles I see they list 413 87? on plus all Sammys. Did the later (87) 413s have the wider diff housing or is this an American/aussie market. I have heard of a narrow and wide track 413 for other markets and tried to google but cannot find a def answer.

Dont own 1 but shopping, any help great.

85 - 87 is sj413. 1988 - 1995 was samurai ((widetrack) WT axles are 40mm wider each side. Can only buy chromoly 4130? Front axle/cvs through the USA suppliers for WT running gear.
Typing on my ph so that's all I CBF typing

Thanks 4 that, cleared up the confusion. Are they the same bodys etc with flares? thats what it looks like but cant be sure.

Just have to flog a few more car parts, to purchsae a runabout, to sell the d22, to buy a zook, that I wont have to drive every day.....

The axle thing from above is correct. I think part of the confusion can be that Americans sometimes call the earlier SJ413s, samurais - for example:

when it comes time to buy parts, just insure that its listed for your correct year

The yanks never got SJ413's. All they got was samurais. The bodys are the same apart from flares and dashs.

Just a few more Q's for those in the know. Thanks for the help

sammy axles to 413, 410. I assume the mounts need to be shifted in/
is this a good time to put in jeep leafs/make new mounts, any1 watching got 1st hand exp?

as the axles are 40mm a side how much of the sammy front end do you need to convert it, 1wld assume this is a gd time to strip and brace the diff?

are the sammys a 1300 inj an disc rear?

any1 in Canty got a 4age in their suzy I cld take a look at to see how hard it wld be as theres a couple floatin around in my ma's garage.... yes im the wrong side of 30 and brought a house but cannot afford a garage at the mo.

Trying to wk out weather to hunt for a 410/413, leaning towards a 410 ute an do the 4ag/sammy axles or save a few goldies and look for a sammy from the start. Just tryin to line up ma ducks :|

PS any1 got a 410 ute that is more steel than rust they just dont drive often enuf

Fingers crossed found a 413
