Had a couple of light pulls, and 1 x 3 meter pull where she had bottomed out... but she preformed well.

More worried about the electrical system coping (and of course my first time using a winch)... but i will no doubt get myself into more trouble next time... :)

Winching / Power

Post by 00falcon »

Snatch block... Will do...

I have a 600 CCA Battery.
From what i understand, that means it has a peak output when cold of 600 amps for 30 seconds (ish) before the volts drop...

(winch has a peak draw of 530 amps)

Theoretically, how long could the battery sustain 400 ish amp draw before you started getting into trouble...?

And...

I dont imagine a car battery is 'Smart' like a (for example) a laptop battery, where it has smarts that know what amp hours are left in it...

With that said, is their anything 'gauge wise' that will let you know what grant is left in your battery...?

i.e. after you have done a pull, and used a bit of the stored grunt in the battery, wouldn't be handy to know approx when you battery is recharged...

The wrangler has a built in volt meter.... but that isn't the same it...

Cheers

theory all goes out the window when your out in the shit in the rain stuck up to your door handles in thick clay trying to get your truck out, theres too many variables, you just get to know how long your winch will last and when its going to run out of puff
