Oil catch can

I am on the lookout for a new oil catch can and am after one like this, does anyone know of a NZ supplier for it?

are good as they have the clear side tube so you can tell if/when they are getting full.

I have a similar one and it leaks like a leaky thing out of the drain, and sight glass.

have seen similar on sale in OZ. i think they are a basic fuel filter.
how good it would be as a catch can will depend on what filter they have in it.

i just use a cheap catch can and add my own filters.

I saw the pictured one on a forum I was browsing in Aussy when looking for different oil catch cans and this one seemed well recommended by others on the forum. Also saw similar one on a US forum too, but I do not know where to buy one. Apparently it has a dropper tube inside for the inlet? I don't know what filter is in it though.

These are raw water strainers that I have fitted to boats.
Same castings with steel wool thrown in instead of a gauze strainer.
Sherwood is the Brand.

How well do you think the bowls on those would stand up to hot Diesel engine temps Simon.

They usually live in the engine room of a large boat witha big diesel motor. Way back in my boat building days we used them as strainers pre salt water pump on the heat exchanger. basically hanging right off the motor.

I saw this post and had nothing better to this weekend so i installed one in the weekend will post some pictures to night, will keep my intercooler nice and clean seems to working fine so far

After looking around for a while I went and talked with my mate at road and track.

We pulled apart one of these supercheap/repco/trademe alloy style ones, no baffles or anything inside to aid collection.

So I had a wee search and found an article that would help make them more effective.

Has anyone seen any that do have baffles?

I've been running mine now for over 300km have not seen any oil in the return pipe will keep watching to see if any does then ill modify it I put a pipe down to the bottom of the can tho so it will have to fight gravity to get sucked back up

have heard of people filling them with lathe swarf. would really only wanna chuck stainless swarf in there ideally.
Mine gets more water in it than oil. petrol engine, though.
