Toyota 4k question

Post by suzookyman »

Hi all, I recently picked up an Sj410 with a Toyota 4k in it. I want to put
power steering in it. I have a Vitara power steering unit here but I was
wondering what pump to use (and from what car ). Has anyone out there done this conversion with the 4k before?
cheers Al

Try fitting a vitara power steer pump to it, should be matched to the drive unit then.

Yeah got that but was after a pump that would just bolt up to the 4k.

If your lucky you may find a power steer pump from a 5k. Some 5k motors, but very rare had power steering fitted. Would probly be easier to use another model pump and adapt to the 4k motor.

5 or 7k out of a van possibly, not even like you can plug it in where the air con pump was(wasnt). Have you been in an early 80s corolla, they didnt have a lot of features
