Yeah, i run a modified rear sump on mine, been sweet as.
Have heard a rumour that you can go to toyota and buy a rear sump assembly of a 2uz cruza v8, for surprisingly less than you would expect.
I have seen a couple fitted, and they look pretty good.

Re: 1UZ Rear sump or aftermarket
I have a 2uz sump on my 1uz, getting it direct from japan from a mate it still cost $900. From toyota NZ was something like $2000
Which actually sounds cheap compared to the $3000 I was quoted for an idle speed controller

Yea they are a shocking price, they have a retail of around $6000, if you have a trade account they are $2500ish, Toyota NZ cost price is around the same price you can import your own from Japan but you have to know someone high up at Toyota NZ in Palmy to even go there

Another option is to buy a sump flange from Trade Me and make your own to suit or get your own flange laser cut and do the same.
I plan on getting a 2UZ rear sump from TNZ soonish to aid with my lack of up travel but for the last 4 years ive been using a standard front sump and i put a extra 500mls in just to be safe, but with the factory baffle system ive never had any oil starvation issues on angles etc
Re: 1UZ Rear sump or aftermarket
ok after testing new truck, still, a bit concerned about oil pressure, it is a mid sump.

Re: 1UZ Rear sump or aftermarket
This is what I did when I had the BJ70 , mine is a rear sumper and the bottom of the metal sump hit the diff head so I imprevised a little

And due to loosing the area in the cut I just added approx the same to the front of the metal bit, you can only just make it out.. have not had any problems at all with this setup.. and hopefully wont.. Running the same setup and it miss's the high opinion head almost the same spot..
Hope this gives ya some ideas..
