SJ413 starter motor

Post by redzuki »

The starter motor in my sj413 is stuffed :( and when i pulled it out it had a mitsubishi logo on it ,I was just woundering if there is another vehicle that has the same starter motor as a 413 that i could use as a replacement.

I was going to rebuild it but the housing the main shaft sits in is pretty worn out and i think theres a bearing on the shaft and thats rusted solid :( .I've heard that holden barinas have the same engine as a 413 so i might go to pick a part tomorrow to see if theres a barina there to compare starters and see if there the same.

You can buy new bushes and brushes from Repco to rebuild it. Pretty easy job.

I'm pretty sure the Barinas/Swifts have the same starter, but with a different nose piece on it. Apparently you can swap the noses over, so pick a part could be a good option.

Ahhh you made it home then.......I had horrible overheating (hopefully just mud on the radiator) It may not just be the bushes, my daihatsu one melted when it died.....I can ask around I know a couple of people with Zuks locally who may have spare parts

Otherwise just swop your motor for Mr Offroaders...I'm sure he won't notice or mind too much !!

I went to pick apart and pulled a barina starter motor out and the front of the starter housing was different so i tried to change the front but it didn't work the main shafts where different sizes:( .
So i went to repco and got new bushes ,new brushes , a new bearing and a new gear that engages into the fly wheel for about fifty bucks,so now ive just got to go and fit it all .
