That route may be quite different next time you visit, as early this week machines are going to start the process of 'fixing up' the track to address water and erosion concerns of Environment Waikato. It is being done with the agreement of the Council and DoC and should mean that that track will be available for 4x4 use for the future.
As a result of the work programme, the route is now closed to all vehicles and will remain so for several months. The work is being funded by the NZFWDA northern zone with the assistance of the machine operators and owners.
