Quick question -- Samurai Axle housing

Post by HedgeBoar »

Hey -- Could someone with a samurai rear axle housing hanging about tell me what the centre to centre distance between the spring plates is?

I'm about to weld up my rear axle housing (whole lot of mods...) and I've lost my notes I took when I chopped it up... Centre to centre on my front leaf spring mounts measures 953mm, but the rear shackle mounts seem to be more like 940mm -- hard to measure well due to fuel tank being in the way.

Cheers.

Try measuring your spring brackets on the frame. If you measure from the outside of the bracket on one side to the inside bracket on the opposite side the will give you your center distance.

So you want the center-center distance for the axle perches?

Yes that's right -- I found a drawing of the chassis though so all sorted, cheers. The nominal dimension is 950mm.
