Adjusting an odometer
Adjusting an odometer
I've got to change the speedo cluster in my 90 series prado and need to wind the replacement one fowards. Any one know how to do it? Cheers (actually want to wind it foward not back like most people)

Pull the cluster apart so u hold speedeo unit in hand then think u can adjust it there from memory, we put a electric one in a cable truck and had to adjust it

You may have to take it to a specialist if it is a electronic one ( or use the drill on the sender unit )

or ignore it and bask in the free RUC

Or go to the post shop and get a form from them to change the KM's on your truck. Just tell them you have changed the speedo. Waaaaay easier than winding it forward.

I have had to do this a few times. If it is not an lcd type, I have found you can carefully insert something with a fine edge between the number you wish to change and the one next to it and twist it slightly to spread them apart a little. This disengages the little pins/gears and you can turn it to wherever you like. Saves stripping the thing right down, but I cannot stress enough the words carefully, slightly and little above!
