After Market Steering Wheel for 40 series

Post by snotgoblin »

Hey all,

My BJ40 original wheel is a bit big when coupled with the Cressida seats (cert'ed) makes it quite tricky for my scrawny legs to get in...

Anyhow - suggestions for different wheels most appreciated.

Oh - have power steering so wont be too much of a workout.

Cheers

I think you'll probably find most toyota stuff is splinned the same, I ran into a simular problem with the steering wheel scraping accross my nuts with my 40 series seats and stuck a 2000 ish corolla steering wheel on, bolted straight on and was easy to line the striker up to keep the horn working

Legend - cheers Sadam.

I hoped that might have been the case. I know for my old Zuk I slid a Wagon R wheel on perfectly.

What saddam said is correct the toy splints are pretty much all the same an I used a wheel very simiar to the one on saddams 40 on my old 40, cost me $15 from pick a part.
only thing I noticed was that when pedaling it thru the rough stuff my arms would always hit the large horn button so try find a wheel with smaller horn buttons, used to annoy me beeping the horn all the time
Didn't barbie drive a jeep??

I must have picked one of the steering wheels with the extra heavy duty horn springs coz you just about need both hands to get my horn to work :x

New wheel fitted tonight - no auto off for the indicators - will see about that maybe later.

Got a wheel off a Toyota Windom - free too. The car is a wreck that our fire guys at work use for practice.

Best of all - it has leather!! Flash as ....

I just replaced my 40 series wheel with a MOMO off TM for $45 and it was advertised as a Toyota Corolla wheel. Sooooo much better, I used to crank the wheel quite quick while doing some fast and heavy off roading and my long sleeve rain coat used to end up unclipping the 4 point race harness just as it got hairy...................not cool.
