Which Pyrometer?

Post by petefj40 »

As I'm doing a lot of towing in the 80 I thought it would be a good idea to install a pyrometer.
Can anyone suggest which one they find good for the money?

Cheers.

Interesting. Not bad for NZ$120. when you compare it to this for a similar price.

I've been looking at this one - not in stock yet but quoted $179 for a combination pyro and boost guage
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 907554.htm

At $109 this looks good too - with adjustable warning light...

i have a autogauge 52mm one which is still working fine.

i had a autogauge 60mm one but have replaced that with one from http://www.auberins.com/ . i find the digital easier to read, has remote output for the warning (in the middle of wiring up a warning buzzer this weekend) and it has max/min memory recall.
there is a choice of sensors and can be programmed for other sensors.

for the $$$ the auberins one is the best.

That Ebay one is an Auber instruments one by the way and I paid less than that from the auberins website.

I have those guages too. Is cheap and goes well has alarms/built in relay for buzzer or whatever you want, etc.

I have three of them now (same module is used for multiple stuff), water temp, EGT and Boost.

Wouldnt use anything else now.

If you want the best this is what I run.

A VDO the same as the ships and helicopters use. They are not cheap but extremely accurate and Swiss made. I paid around $800 for mine about 10 years ago

$800 is a bit steep.

Just had a search on ebay for one.

pic of the Auberins digital gauges with 60mm autogauges on the right.
the boxes the auberins gauges are in are off their website. the gauges normally come bare which can be handy if you want to install them in the dash etc.
