Hi , looking at converting my a/c pump into a air compressor , Does any one know what is involved? i've heard you need an inline oiler? where do you get them from , also do you need an air tank i've heard of people using their bar work as the air tank? is that possible?
I'm in the process of doing the same on my jeep, because of limited room I am going to pipe mine to an aluminium Breathing apparatus bottle Same size as a dive tank but lighter, that can be removed when I'm not wheeling, have got all the bits now ( oiler, hose, fittings, aircon unit , pressure switch, B/A bottle) except for the longer serpentine belt, and I can start setting it up
Yea, though I drive through the valley of death (and it's mudbogs), I shall fear no trail;for tho art modified is my rig, and thy lift kit and lockers they comfort me. Amen
I fitted a rocker cover breather filter to the inlet hose (with a line tapped in from a bottle with compressor oil in it), and an airline fitting to the outlet hose...
Just plug in the air line when you need it...works a treat...
My truck came with a setup simular to this when I brought it. The hose runs from compressor to a regulator then to an underfloor tank that looks like its was burgled from an old compressor and would be about 30 litres in capacity, then the hose comes back up through the floor. Apart from blowing the odd hose off and some electrical gremlins with the switch for the compressor it is a good setup and has been in the vehicle for around 10 years. It can run air tools and will pump up a 33inch tyre from 12psi to 45psi in around 2mins.
