crown wheel and pinoin,navara 4.88 into rear safari,??

wonder if sumone could help on this subject, found a 88 navara 4wd and checked vin plate and says it has got trans axle 4.8 ,now would the crown wheel and pinoin fit in my safari ??? ,i knw terrano/navara lsd fits cause i have one in the front of my safari and have dne for 5yrs . and i knw the the rear 4.66 crown wheel and pinoin fits out of a terrano/navara fits a safari rear ,now the diff housing is different in the navara than my safari rear the one i am looking at think they call it a banjo diff housing ??? but the crown wheel will be the same
its a shame the navara front diff is different hey cause that would be a cheap upgrade

think the rear diff is a bigger dia diff,on safs the fronts are small than the rear so why the rears of other fit the front

im pretty sure the 88 terrano had the early diff eg had the bolt on plate on back of diff where as the 90,s terrano had the banjo type diff hg4.8 4.6 4.1 ect the early was something like a ca4.8. cant remember the other ratios for the older diff. they where not interchangeable that i was a where because of size difference.

I think the Navaras might have come out with a c200 diff (the one with the backing plate on the diff), not a h233b like the Terrano/Safari, the chassis tag should have something like HG48, HG41 is the factory 4.1 Safari code, I'm pretty sure a 4.8 out of a Terrano will fit the Safari housing. I'd check to see how easy the front 4.8 crown wheel and pinion are to get hold of first.

no, a terrano rear crown wheel will not fit into a safari front ,only the lsd will,

Got a 4.6 lsd here Vince came out of a terrano rear

It will not fit as the crown wheel in the back of a Navara (which will be a C200 diff with a removeable coverplate) has a 200mm crown wheel. Safari's meanwhile run a H233 diff in the back which has a 233mm crown wheel - so even if it was possible to bolt the crown wheel to your diff centre I doubt that it would mesh properly with your pinon cog. However if you are looking at changing your diff ratios on the cheap, the V6 and some of the later D21 wide body turbo diesel Pathfinders run the H233 Nissan diff, also the old MQ/MK Safari's run the H233 diff in the back - should give you a few different ratio options to think about, just remember you have to find 2 sets so that your front diff matches.
