1uz auto issue

Post by jonossiksilvia »

i am still having issues with the auto box
been studying diagrams for ages and google wont bring up anything with the problem i have:

quick drive down the street resulted in auto changing gears - awesome but putting the gear stick from d to L doesnt hold 1st gear - its just like its in drive. - i thought the 1uz auto was controlled in the engine ecu and would get the signal of the nsw on side on box to stay in first if the lever was in L. really need this to work properly out on the tracks.

also maybe related but there is only a 5500rpm or so limit in 1st gear before it changes gear.

specs:
92 1uz auto box using 1uz loom and 4 prong sensor etc

So I have checked the following:

Shifter adjustment is correct
Auto cable connected to the throttle is set correct
Fuild level correct
ecu getting speed from cluster
12volt power going to the solinods
Unplugging the connector that feeds solinods makes it stay in first gear until stick is moved
Unplugging the same plug also stops reverse cutting in and out nonstop on light throttle
I do not have the internal diagnosis plug so cant check auto codes and have been tiring to track down the plug
Engine light is not on nor showing any codes either

Just spent the whole day going over everything

Bummer I cant find anyone in chch to send it to - they only wanna know me if get an aftermarket ecu

if anyone can post up a link or point me somewhere that would be great

cheers john

Do you have a manual for the A340 series auto?
In it is a table which shows what happens when a solenoid fails or is not getting a signal. This may be your problem...
Alot of guys manulise the auto like I have just done....(mines behind a 1KZTE)
Works great off road....(
Otherwise there are aftermarket controllers...
SupraStick is a good one...

Yes the auto is ECU controlled and there is a signal wire from the NSW to the ECU to indicate L and 2.....Your NSW could be out of whack....

Have a read thru this post..

hi.

any chance you could pm or post up here the manual?

yep had a read through your link as you were doing it.

before going to a manual setup or using an a/m controller i want to get it working like factory first (ease of use when i feel lazy or the mrs gotta drive it)

the nsw is getting pulled next weekend and am going to test its working properly.

http://home.wjw.co.nz/Toyota/A340/autotrans.html

or have a look at the A340 2JZ ones:

http://home.wjw.co.nz/?p=152

Other option is to run a Jeep Cherokee Auto ecu that was what I used in the prado with the 2JZ as we couldnt get it to shift right with the factory 2ZJ or 1KZ ecu's

I just read the link I sent

L in an A340E should be 1st & 2nd gears. Not just 1st ;-)

Look on 2nd page here:
