wanting to get some things together to build the rear bar on the surf.
Is there somewhere you can buy a removable towbar kit or should I just make my own?

Re: removeable tow hitch/bar
I got my removable tongue bar from Fully Equipped (Hamilton, Lower Hutt, + ???) last September at a VERY reasonable price because, as they explained to me, there is no longer any real market for bars that fit older models, in my case 1993 Bighorn. They have many variants for many vehicles (all were offered in TradeMe a while ago - but note that the Trademe photos were not always correct for the exact bar). Mine fits with vertical bolts to the chassis (3 on each side - had to clean threads on two holes and drill a new one as well) and for heavy towing may be less strong than horizontal bolt fittings. Spec says 2500kg tow weight. The brand of all the bars is Hayman Reese from Australia. Mine suits my purpose, light towing, very well.
