Currently I get up to 20psi on mine. But I'm happy to turn it back for longer life.

strx7 wrote:unless your pump has some serious mods done to it, or you are injected water & meths as extra fuel, you are probably wasting air by running that much boost, if you knocked it back to 13 or 14psi you would be making the same power. 10psi is standard. I dyno'd mine at 10psi, then again at 13.5psi, not a single extra hp was made as there was no more deisel going in to make more power with. if your truck doesn't have an intercooler 20psi continual use is asking for issues.

Sorry Pete, I actually thought you had already intercooled it.. Sounds like you have done your research now. But i still think you can find a little more life in it at slightly higher boost..

Pre

Pre
no problem then its running fairly cool. tho need to do a full load run up a hill and see what it gets to.

I've taken it right back to 12psi. First thing i noticed was a higher EGT. Just by holding the foot flat in third driving on the flat, the EGT got up to 610 celsius.

Yeah Of course if you drop airflow it will run hotter. Turn the boost right up and watch the egt go down

strx7 wrote:the compressors on these turbos, both 1HDT and TD27 are MILES outside their efficency range at 20+psi, all you are doing is heating the air up for no actual CFM gain.
CFM and Fuel make power, not PSI....., all it makes is PRESSURE.
