So what's happening is the Regional Council want to lease the cutting rights of the Akatarawa forest, what happens next is the forest gets closed off (so they can protect their assets etc) and we lose access. Apparently there has also been banter about selling the Mangatukutuku side off completely so, again, we will lose access. In order to prevent this we all need to pull finger and get as many people as we can to submit this form - as once we lose access, we won't be getting it back.
http://www.gw.govt.nz/2012-long-term-plan-submission-form/It's easy submit the linked Regional Council form and say "No" to these two at the bottom:
Do you support selling our forestry cutting rights? "No"
Do you support selling surplus land? "No"
And then SHARE SHARE SHARE/or fill a few out for your mothers and brothers and neighbours etc
