Bit of advice from Jeep owners...

So im looking at any trucks that are well set up,had alot of cruisers but come across this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=466577357 does anyone no the truck or what do they think of the set up.Any help would be great thanks Rich

Gday, don't know the truck, the ad doesn't say much but it looks ok. If it's a good quality lift it should drive and steer like a stock one, at 5.5 inches and long arms there should be adjustable panhard rods, dropped pitman arm and free from any driveshaft vibration. If you could get him to list out everything exactly or find out what lift it is and google it to know for sure. As a bonus it has the part time transfer case out of the XJ, with a bit of luck the front half shafts will also be out of an XJ with UJs instead of the standard CVs which don't seem to be as strong (can't see for sure on photo 7). Looks to be 33s on her, would be a very capable 4wd and good value for money compared to some of the other stuff out there.

I don't know that one in particular. Factory designation for that shape Grand Cherokee was "ZJ", search on the internet or JeepForum for specific areas to look for. The engine is essentially the same I6 4.0L as in TJs and XJs. Its generally considered to be a solid engine with 300k+ kms not uncommon with normal maintenance. ZJs were produced between 1993 and 1998. Newer shape came out in 1999 - the WJ/WG.

I believe in US, this one came with a V8 as well (probably towards the end of production life). I haven't seen any in NZ so far (there might be, haven't seen).

It makes it easier to search for pros and cons on the net if you have a bit of background info as above. Hope this helps in general.

I had a look at this a couple of months ago (back when it was 15k ) and it is a well setup truck that has had bucket loads spent on it (long arm kit is 5k by itself)

Needs some decent tyres, bar work and a winch........then you've got a great wagon. In saying that, its still a Jeep and will cost you a small tanker of fuel every time you even look at it

Depends what youre after. if its a good, powerful, comfortable, family friendly, very capable 4x4.......then you wont go far wrong with this.
