Old Man Emu Springs on BJ40

So got to having a closer look at the suspension as it arrived on my BJ40. It has Old Man Emu shocks and leaves front and rear. However it appears that on the front (have not looked too closely at rear yet) the previous owner fitted the original 15mm shackle pins, but the ID of the OME bushes is a bit bigger.

So - the question is; for you guys using OME lift kits on your 40's, do the OME shackles and pins have different diameters?

I am thinking that at least the rear pin can be replaced with a larger diameter.

Have now worked out that 1980 40 series' 'Cruisers have two different suspension types. They changed in August 1980. Pre this date they used the smaller diameter pins and bushes.

The chassis shackle mounts use the smaller bushes, and are matched with smaller pins (15mm diameter) all round.

I am sure some of you 40 series gurus knew this... but thought I would pass on my new found knowledge.

Not without modifying / replacing the mount on the chassis (assuming you are talking about the fixed pins).

So I gave Warren(?) at 4wd bits a call this arvo.

The only way he suggests aside from an all new EFS install or getting all the proper Old Man Emu stuff is to look at a tubular shim to boost the diameter of the pins: Fixed and Shackle
