UBS69 front end alignment issues

Post by Mattman »

Had an accident in my Bighorn which affected the left front alignment.

Nothing obviously damaged. Left front camber out by a few degrees +.

What's the best way to work out what's bent? I guess it could be upper arm or knuckle or ball joint.

Do these bend upper arm mounts on the chassis?

Matt.

my guess would be lower control arm or spindle in ya hub. take it to your local firestone shop and get there alignment tech to go ova it. there are certain aspects they can check to see whats bent relating to camber and the kpi differences or post up alignment sheet if u have had one

Took it to Firestone who suggested replacing both arms and knuckle as they weren't sure.

Would like to confirm its not a mount before I go changing anything. Will get alignment sheet tomorrow and post it.

Cheers

I wouldn't bother with a tyre shop, they only fit tyres etc and do alignments and would generally not be that adept at determining accident damage

I work in the same industry and struggle to suss out whats bent half the time

I would be looking for a mechanic who does a lot of work for a panelbeaters as they would have the years of experience looking for causes

look on the arms for any cracking of the black paint this will indicate a bend or crease in the steel
needs more curry

Thanks for the replies.

No visible marks on any of the arms to show possible bending unfortunately and I don't think no its the idler as that wouldn't affect camber.

Any recommendations on a Wellington mechanic? I can swap arms and knuckles over I just want to make sure its not the mounts on the chassis before I do.

Cheers

Camber and caster are out on the left side.

G Guys aligned it a year ago and the caster was perfect but camber on the left out just a touch. Now it has no shims on the left side and is still at -1.18 camber and 0.24 caster on the left.

Might pick up a second hand arm and see how it looks.

replace ya hub if ya lower arms look ok it will be ya spindle in hub. i have been doing alignments for 12 years and do shit loads for panel beaters that just replace the arms thinking this is all it cud be. 9 times out of ten its the hub.
