Surf steering???

Post by brianr70 »

can anyone help...my 91 Surf seems to have a lot more right hand lock than left hand, so doing left tight hand turns is a bit of a mission at times??? otherwise steering seems okay :!:

Check that the stop bolts haven't come loose on one side  Other reasons are probably bent bits

could also be the arm on the steering box has moved (stripped shaft a little,or been moved before you bought it??) to a non-centred position, therefore giving you less turn one way, seen it before on a mitsi starion. If it is, it's an easy fix, remove the arm, figure out where the centre point in the box is, then reattach the arm...... easy peasy!!

my 94 steering box has no centre, it continuse , as I found out when i bent the spline in the arm when i hit a rut so it cant be out of center, just centered the steering wheel again. but a 91 might be different. agree that the steering stop things behind the wheel could be out?
