started doing the figures, this would be pretty cheap to build! plus no panel an paint! i noticed there sweet fa room for a decent engine and not a fan of VW motor, maybe a Rotary would be the go
SASed Isuzu Mu - hilux diffs, Rears up front, disc brake conversion, ifs hub swap, crossover steering, and legal!!!!

yeah my thoughts as well just had a thought how tall and wide is an MR2 powerplant
my 4wd is not a truck
old mercedes never die but sometimes they do need some love
older cars are good, mercedes are better, older mercedes are the best

nah mate. Love the hp figures of the rotary ONCE the revs get up there but, HATE the BA BA BA BA BA sound. Hate the no torque at low revs, I generally hate them all round. BUT, the boxer engine? Low torque, and when modifed? They can do this.
Haha I was up waaayyy to late last night thinking about the best way to built this lol........
Best way mount the body to a 2wd ute chassis with a rear c notch and independant front with drop spindles so you can get the engine still under the bonnet..(would probably have to shorten the chassis a bit too)... I think airbags would still be the way, as long as you're not all wanky with them hahah. Really ya need airbags so you can raise it up to steer it cause the wheels always end up touching the inside of the guards and ya only have really limited steering..... Ha I know from experience of driving things on airbags...
Would be an awesome built..... imagine the attention it'd get at beach hop....
Landy SIIa winch truck- 350 chev powered, cruiser axles, 36" simexs - classic goodness
Hilux KUN expedition ute with all the bling
Fluid-filled suspension would be perfect. Maybe something like the hydrospastic system from the morris/austin 1800 (or the wolseley equivalent), with some form of pump fitted to adjust the height?
And, to keep it simple, and english, a daimler 2.5 v8 from a v8-250 or dart would work
Or a 450 from a majestic major...

also, jag arse end with homebrew IFS and whatever motor tickles your fancy. completely constructed chassis would be the way to go. or at least strip the landrover chassis back to absolutely nothing.
however, springs would suffice. what do you need to go up for? should be able to get sweet amounts of steering without rubbing, and 88" wheelbase is nothing so would never get hung up on anything. scraping doesn't matter.
