28-29 April

Post by lincooln »

Well I actually started early on my weekend and have done stuff for a change.

Cleaned the car port so I could get to the new chassis, cleaned rear diff and painted it and mounted it minus the rear shocks. Started cleaning the front suspension and steering components ready for painting. Noticed the srtuts already had the cap flip done, so is a help to me, Cleaned up front brakes ready for painting too. By the end of the weekend I should have a rolling chassis again too.

Finally I have an idea for some cheap shocks to suit the Suzuki. Looking at Renault 19 ones as they fit. Might go to pick a part and see if the early Megane they have there has similar shocks. Otherwise I will get ones from up my dads

Wow, that came out awesome!

Edit: Weekend hasn't really started yet, but I did purchase some steel so I can make a bit more progress on the barwork/hooks/chassis strengthening... hoping to patch up most of the rust too if all goes according to plan

Brakes have been pulling right so fitted new caliper kits and caliper pistons to the front brakes. The old pistons had lost there finish through rust etc. Lubricated caliper sliders, hopefully all good now, will test drive it tomorrow after bleeding the brakes:D

Weekend hasn't been going long but have done a few things.
The spare front end parts I picked up last weekend were still on the trailer, so i pulled it all apart into smaller chunks to move. Decided to pull the cover plate off the front diff assembly to check what ratio it was...........4.8!! 8) Yippie $40 diff and everything else to upgrade the front drive, steering and brakes.

Also, went and picked up a couple of accessories for my brothers 2005 Hilux,

Thanks Mike from http://www.winch.co.nz for the awesome bar and winch package.

More to come over the weekend, but off to a good start

Cheers,

Dont be hating... :P

I know she`s ugly, but its survived hitting many a tree, rock, and even hanging out in the ocean without even a dent (plenty o scratches).
Doing it again i`d do it a whole lot different, but i`ve got it, it works, so unless someone wants to buy it (yeah right) she stays. Dont like it come ram me :P

And the snorkel can come down a bit, and likely the hat will be swapped out for a smaller one (its a 4 inch hat on 3 inch pipe). prolly one of these.

Yep, fairly stoked with it. Came with the fog lights, side marker and indicator lights with relay, loom and dash switch, so can't complain at $1200.
I guess I might do a bit of a write up on the fitting with plenty of pics for you junkies :D

Made me a snorkel this weekend from some mandrel bent 3' exhaust pipe 90 degree and 45 degree and the odd straight piece , still yet to do the under bonnet side of things as i'm waiting for some 3' intercooler piping and silicone joiners to run from the throttle body which is on drivers side (just to be a pain) to the snorkel steel pipe should have it all done by the end of the week i'm hoping!

Heres the porn.

Went to Woodhill and had a great hour or so until I blew yet another front diff  . Good thing I have a brand new spare :P . I spent the rest of the day in 2wd.
Meet up with a few ORE’ers :D .

Had an epiphany…….perhaps I need to alter my driving style before there is a national shortage of 4.8 front diffs
Oh well into the shed to change diff, hub and steering assemblies.

Cheers,
