Where to look for a 4.1 Hi Pinion?

Post by Disconewhere »

I'm thinking of fitting a Toyota Hi Pinion to the front of my Landrover, a bit stronger apparently but also it'll allow me to run the tierod higher for more clearance.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some info as to what model Prado or 80/100 Series would have had 4.1 ratios in them?

How common are 4.1 HPs? What are the chances for finding an 4.1 HP E Locker ? Any guesses at how much I'll have to spend to get my hands on one?

Cheers

Thanks Keithal,
It would seem from what I've read that all 80 series ratios are 4.1 whether petrol or diesel, is that correct?

the 1KZ Prado's 91 - 94 have 4.1 ratio reverse hi pinion front diffs. Where are you? as I have what I think is the front 4.1 R&P from my old Prado in the garage, haven't had chance to work out Ratio or anything yet. Was going to stick it on trademe when Id do.

Cool, let me know when you've had a look.

You seem to know a bit about Prados, Do you know if Prados had 4 pin carriers or where they all 2 pin? Any reason that I can't fit a 4 pin centre from a rear diff to a Hi Pinion?
