wanted flares - group buy?

Post by icekayak »

Does anyone know the best place to get universal rubber(ish) flares from? Is anyone interested in a group buy of them? found a wholesaler who will sell in 20m rolls.

Cheers

P.S. i would prefer flares over garden edging as i would like to cover a little of the guard also :)

Yeah im in the same position as Billy here. I have looked at two types here in Chch thats available off the shelf. One has a wire reinforcement in the outer extremity to help keep its shape and form (Bushranger me thinks) and the other dosent. The one without the wire looses its shape after a while as i've been keeping a close eye on what is on other trucks.
Being the owner of a nearly shiney truck, im wanting to keep its looks a little longer if possible.
Well thats not entirely true, im just a fussy bugger.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Haha well i was hoping someone would come back with a cheap place but hey; this is one place i've found, and there must be a few others around.

Haven't got a price but found a pic of the Bushranger Flexy Flares:

They are packaged to suit 2 wheel arches (3 metres in each package).

I have wildcat flares on my GQ Patrol. They replaced the factory plastic ones. I have found they hold the shape really well. They are made with a compound curve to the rubber; So they follow the shape of the wheel arch to give a factory look. The only fault I can find with them is the mounting hardware they supply in the box is not tough enough to withstand serious 4x4ing. Nothing that cant be fixed if you know about it earlier rather than later.

Just my 2c worth.

same as the small flare in the pic above. Im guessing that would be a retail price they gave you?? I use the same flare on the back of lil pig, and bought another 4 metres recently. Works fine, goes back to shape after being dragged against a bank.
If you use a wire insert for the bigger one, wont you flare be deformed when it gets bent?? Ie the wire wont rebound back to its original shape - not any wire Ive seen :?
Nice work looking into it though :D
