Main end bearing bolts

Post by doddzee »

Lastnight i have had to undo one of the main end bearing bolts in my VT V8 due to having to modify the oil pick up to siut a rear sump.

When doing it back up will i need to remove the other one and re-torque them both or can i just tighten the one i removed back up? Is there anything i need to be carefull about when putting it back together?

Anyone know what i should be torquing it back up to?

Hi doddzee, You have already disturbed the cap by undoing one side so slacken off the other bolt and torque them both up, keeps them even .
As for torque? I'm sure the Holden boy's will jump in here. But my manual for small block Chev; gives 75lb ft ; and I would say that would be fairly close to the mark.
