good spots in christchurch?

hi all, i moved to christchurch recently, dont really know the area to well and my sons been naging me to take him out, anyone reccomend some good spots to take the 4wd? or any 4wd clubs / groups down this way? was talking to a couple of guys at the gassy a few days ago they said theres a good spot on some private land near leeston the owner is ok with people using?? does anyone know where this is?

For a start the Ashley river, smaller than the Waimak so safer and contains less "grindin paste" for the diffs n brakes. Amberly beach is also good for a laugh, north of the golf course up the river..
