Found my way here after doing a google search for TD27 turbo leaking oil
Wow ! This forum is a gold mine !. After pulling all the plumbing off the turbo I could see there was only oil on the front of the fan and no play in the shaft.

So after a good read of heaps of posts here I removed rocker cover breather pipe from air intake pipe, installed a catch can, removed inlet manifold it was almost completely blocked with fluffy oily carbon deposits (91 terrano) from 20 years of never being cleaned! I have also removed butterfly valve from the intake plumbing.

The improvement was astounding to say the least hardly any smoke now on acceleration more torque on hills with all that air coming thru.and no oil leaking out of intake plumbing now is great too. Next things on the list are tappet adjustments and a moderate boost increase.

Thanks for all the info guys this forum is going to save me loads of time, money and it's made me aware of what a great engine the Td27 is.
