Suspension Lift

Post by DieselBoy »

I have done some ringing around, and i have been getting some interesting results.
I want a 2" lift from Standard Height.
Basically they are telling me that the springs are 30% harder, but they can not garante the 2" lift. Saying that it is possible that you may get 2" above the sagged height, but possibly not over standard height.
I wantto get the rear end backj up to standard height and then 2"above. Can any one recommend a good place/person to source them from???
Cheers,
Peter.

Mine came from Fully Equipped I think or maybe Just Cruisers. They are Heavy Duty Cobra Springs & shocks which give about a 50mm lift. You could probably get bigger, was put on by the previous owner.

What I was told by Fully Equipped was that the XJS 2000 series will give me about 50mm lift and 20% stiffer ride. That was for pajero.

They recommended to install rear spring and all shocks as well as front torson bar.

It may be worth to send enquiry?

For $300 a pair i can get some made to spec, so i may do that. No point putting in springs for the sake of a lift when they can't really garantee that you will get one. May was well stick with the standard springs in that case.

If you go to the after market springs OME, tufdog that sort of thing. They will give you a 2 inch lift from the factory setting. So in your case if you have sagged springs you will get even more lift. They also sell gearbox packers in the kit to reduce harsh angles on drive shafts and reduce drivetrain vibrations. if you don't get the correct lift then ARB/autokraft will sell you spring packers which you can use to increase lift by small amounts to get a balanced vehicle.

Happy shopping.

I've just put a 2" tough dog kit in my safari and find its great. Mine suffered from the sagging rear end, so it lifted it about 3-4".
I know of a set of 2" tough dog coils for sale in Blenheim if your interested.

Yes very interested!!!
I think im going to use/make some coil spacers from some conveyor belting as well :D
Its the rear end of mine thats problem as well. Sits fine unloaded, but you put a full tank of diesel, highlift jack, tools and recovery gear together and it sags impressivley. And thats with out camping gear etc, and all stowed right behind the fronts seats as close to the middle of the vehicle as i can get it. I don't want to put heavy duty coils in because it does compromise articulation. Their higher resistance due to their higher spring rate means less weight on the dropping wheel, much like having a sway bar still connected. Anyway.....

Have you tried talking to Mike at 4wd upgrades? He seems more than happy to give advice and does these sort of lifts etc every day :)

Our recommendation would be to install TJM's series 2000 raised height heavy duty springs on the front and rear of the vehicle.

We specify the SWB front springs for SWB Patrols with no bullbar or winch, and the LWB springs for SWB vehciles with accessories mounted on the front.

In all cases the LWB rear coils are best in the NZ application as they give a good compromise of ride height increase as well as load carrying. Look for about 50mm at the front (with a winch) and 60-65 at the rear.

Gearbox spacers would be required to prevent universal shudder.

Costs (delivered to you including GST)

Front coils $297 per pair
Rear Coils $297 per pair
Gearbox spacers $113 per three (normally enough)
