L series Starter motor info

Post by sambo »

Are the starters from the L series engines interchangable
eg, will one from a 2Lt fit in a 3L (2. 8 )?

I think so. Check the tooth count on the gear that engages the flywheel. Until recently I used a 2L startermotor on my 5L motor

yes.
just be careful as the 2lt one draws more current and has a bigger connector then the 3l starter.

afaik all the 3l ones are the same size. i can't see why toyota would spend $$ making a different starter for the vans.
