FRP Roof Rack solutions?

Post by joeninetynz »

Looking to putting a roof cage on the truck (BJ74). Keen to see what people have done to get around this unique gutter system. Pictures would be nice.

Cheers in advance

hi I drilled threw the fibreglass and placed a steel plate on both sides to make a sandwich. Canopy has a inside lineing which gets pulled up when tighting the bolts. Canopy is bloody strong so no worries.Cheers. :D :D

Helped a friend do something very similar to his. We made up a basket and then welded a bit of flat bar to the feet that run the length rear half of the roof and drilled and bolted through and used andother length of flat bar on the inside so that the weight was well distruited

Have seen a couple of Alloy rack on the FRP tops that mount at the front edge above the screen and across the back above the doors. This is different than a normal mount that would run down the sides. A member in our club had a rack like this and it was strong as.There was one for sale recently on Trademe but not sure what it sold for  no pic's sorry

as above about the sandwich plates, the size and number of plates/mounts depends on how much weight and load your planning on putting up there that needs distributing :D

I wasn't planning to put too up there. Probably 30kgs at the most. Somewhere to put the kayak for the trips to the maimai.

Yeah I saw the ones on TurdMe, but looking more for a cage setup. Planning to throws some lights up there when funds come available.
