Distributor Ignitor

Post by aerodramus »

Hi, am new to this site. Have a 1996 1.7 Cossack which was running fine until Saturday. It just stopped, mid-Uturn, and though it turns over fine, won't fire. The guy who is looking at it says I need to replace the distributor ignitor?? Not really sure what this is but would be VERY grateful if anyone has any ideas.

I'm assuming it's modern equlivent of a coil. I trust you've found Gee Motors in Napier; they should be able to sort you one.

If you do not have anything to occupy yourself - buy a Niva.

Thanks guys. Yep, Gee motors had what I needed.

Just have to get it through a warrant now! Quite a bit of play on the steering but not something that can be adjusted out apparently....

The VIRM (the rules for WOFs) says that the amount of play a manufacturer specifies is fine. Have a look in the manual - the amount Lada specify is larger than most WOF guys expect these days (and I've had to take my manual in before to proof this).

Having said that, the steering box is adjustable and can be tweeked up if it is out.
