As many will recall CCVC entered into an informal agreement with the Wellington City Council to assist in the replanting of the South Coast "Kinoull dunes" otherwise known as the "frypan" almost 3 years ago. Signage erected at the time included both the clubs logo and that of ARAC.
These community based projects help promote the positives of folk involved in 4 wheel driving, or put another way shield organised activity from silly behaviour that unfortunately happens all too often.
This years planting effort has been set for Saturday 16 June, just a few weeks away. Advice is Council's nursery has around 2500 "root trainers". Not being a hoticulturalist i'm unfamilar with the term but told it should not be too difficult to put them in the ground.
A good turnout would be appreciated

Re: Red rocks planting 16 June Replanting Kinoull Dunes
A root trainer is a container that will usually hold 5 seedlings. It clips open and the 5 separate seedlings can be easily removed and planted. It is called a root trainer because of the cone shape of the "pot" part with large ridges which trains the roots to grow straight down and not twist which will give the tree stability problems in its later life.
