1HDT pump and injector rebuild
1HDT pump and injector rebuild
Where in CHCH can I get my pump and injectors rebuilt?
The pump is hunting and a little smokey when at idle. Might be as simple as turning down the fuel.....or complete rebuild?
All suggestions are greatly appreciated

Where from, and what did you get done? Just got a quote for $3800 for 6 injectors, pump service, cambelt etc
Gutted cos I only paid 5k for the entire truck
Re: 1HDT pump and injector rebuild
Ah, the joys of dual stage injectors
I did a fair bit of work on the marine equivalent engines (Yamahas and Yanmars) and fuel servicing was always expensive. Only some fuel shops are set up to do these too. Good to see they haven't got any cheaper
Shop around
Cheers,

I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!
Re: 1HDT pump and injector rebuild
I'll probably end up only doing the pump - its hunting at idle and ticks loudly when accelerating - will be around $2000 all up, so not too bad
Have shopped around but no-one seems to reply to emails these days....

Re: 1HDT pump and injector rebuild
What is the difficulty in rebuilding an injector pump that warrants $2000? I have a spare that has been sitting around for a couple of years and am considering pulling it apart and doing it myself.
Anything I need to watch for? Or am I just better leaving it to the experts?

There is about $560 in labour and $400 for cambelts, tensioners, washers etc on my quote

May be worth pricing up the cambelt and tensioner yourself. If i remember correctly when I did mine they came to about $190 for both.

Re: 1HDT pump and injector rebuild
there is only 1 place in each island that can do the 2 stage injectors properly.
Alltech in auckland and i cant think of the name of the place down south but they are in either timaru/oamaru or dunedin, not in chch.

Re: 1HDT pump and injector rebuild
is it an engine ticking noise? my old 80 had that it was injectors....
i used to Cruise, now i PATROL
Re: 1HDT pump and injector rebuild
Going to be doing my pump rebuild/mods soon as well so starting to think about places myself. I'd check out Diesel and Turbochargers Rotorua as well cos i've read some good reports about their pump builds.

Re: 1HDT pump and injector rebuild
Mine was exchange injectors - but worst of all was the pump - the housing was worn internally so had to get a brand new housing - which wasnt that scary
Loads of people told me to get parts from Diesel & Turbo Wellington - seemed cheap enough but once we knew about the pump it was easier to rebuild than exchange
I took mine to Diesel Pumps in Parkhouse Rd as I deal with them via my workshop - goes very well, but could use a run on a dyno to set fuel & boost (DP dont have a dyno) hence it will end up at Kaiapoi repowers I think (supposed to be good with final tuning).
Just fitted a 3" turbo back system from Autobend this week too - thats woken it up from 50-100k+ but still a little slow getting there, keep telling myself its nearly 3000Kg so hey its gonna take a while sounds cool tho so thats the main thing
After spending all of this, the wee 350 sitting in the crate next door might have been a better option lol

sounds like you could do with a front mounted intercooler and a couple more psi.
