Yes I will be fitting the flywheel at the same time. I havent adapted the flywheel for the gtr plate yet which is a pain. I was just taking it easy and doing it slowly now i have to rush.
Im please to announce that I have now lost 3rd gear and for some reason the speedo stopped going at the same time

Did you get it redrilled to take GTR style clutch?

When I got my flywheel machined to suit my new clutch (a few years ago now) the specailists found that the flywheel had been machined wrong previously. I forget if it was stepped and supposted to be flat or other way around. But getting it wrong changed clamping force, and had made the previous plate start slipping prematurely. He mentioned that nissan brand vs aftermarket use the step opposites (hope that makes sence).
I have just a factory replacement clutch and its ok with standard power. Never had it slip, and its got a light pedal too. (everyone is surprised just how light it is).
Am thinking of also going for lightweight flywheel when I upgrade my gbox, so be interested to see how you find it.
Nathan

Do the lightweight flywheel, you won't regret it.
The stocker has the step.

Haha, gotta love your "headgasket"
Does Qd32 intake sit at same height as td27t intake? I can see it reaches a bit further across tappetcover

Its a totally different manifold so hard to say but it will fit under the bonnet no issue at all. It does go further across the rocker cover so it may be a pain to do the tappets. I will do these before the manifold goes on.
What you haven't used cardboard as a head gasket before. you don't know what your missing

Old broken gearbox out and getting ready for the big one.
Light weight flywheel and heavy duty clutch gone in preparation for the engine upgrades.
I also put in a new main seal as well as spigot bush.
Pulling this gearbox out was enough of a pain in the ass I dont want to do it again.

Gear box is in , rear drive shaft fitted straight on , Good times.

Used a mystral rear gearbox mount and it all bolts in.
No harder than replacing a gearbox to do a clutch.

The reverse light doesnt hook up as the loom is 25mm to short, I will see if I can release it under the bonnet

I extended mine to get it to reach
Easy enough to get 4wd light to work as new box only has one switch instead of two.
Hope your clutch has more than 2500lbs clamp pressure to hold on to the power.
Looking good.
Hey what part of Oz are you in again?

Cheers,

My 4wd switch etc plugged straight in. Its the reverse thats not working, Its not hard Im not worried just the hardest thing about the conversion,

Its an exdy heave duty clutch not sure on the clamping force however..

Good fun day out.
Simon (sibainmud) was over and we caught up. Went up the ormeau track and then off to foxwell road where we played in the mud.
A quick drive in to surfers to see the sights (ladies in bikinis)
Great to catch up Simon and cheers for the hat. I will see if I can get some shots of the hat up later.

Yeah its got the dreaded diesel leak from the injector pump, and the turbo return leaks as well, Since all manifolds are coming off soon I havent bothered fixing. But now the big gearbox is in I will be fixing them all soon when the new turbo and both manifolds go on

Can't be good for fuel economy

Am waiting in anticipation to see how turbo swap goes :D :D :P :P

Gearbox swap was a sinch.
Just went straight in where the old one came out of.
Make sure you get the gearbox cross member for that gearbox. It will save you modifying your cross member.
Its no harder that doing a clutch. My drive shaft was the right length as well. But I have about a 1 -1.5 inch lift in the suspension so it will have helped

I have been thinking about the diesel leak and its annoying me so I am going to do the intake manifold swap before I put the other turbo on, It will be easy enough and it means I can get to the injector pump to fix the top seal.
I will do a acceleration reading before and after so I can see what gain the qd32 intake makes. If it makes heaps Im going to buy all the manifolds before I tell anyone.

I decided to not use this turbo and I have been modifying a gt3063klv turbo to fit.
It has an adjustable a/r so it should hit 30 psi boost by 1500 rpm and hold it to its reline of 6000. Should be awesome. I have another pump which im pulling apart to fit a 12mm head from a 4bt cummins, this will make sure it has heaps of fuel to go with the added air flow.
Im thinking about a bigger intercooler or a top mounted air to air.

OK well qd32 intake manifold on. More torque down low and lower egts all round. Very Awesome.

What made you decide not to go for the ca18 turbo?
Ive got one on my rd28 powered laurel, and it goes real good. Except for a random issue that doesn't let me rev it above 3000rpm ( :( ) Sux because it really gets into its stride at about 2500rpm+...
How do you control exhaust vane? Electronics fancys? Or just via boost reference kinda like wastegate?
PS, you still got stock exhaust manifold and turbo on it now aye?

I have a high flowed ca18 turbo on there now with the stock exhaust manifold. I dont think the machine job on the high flow was that good. Its laggy as an old goat after a week in the paddock with the girls.

The vgt doesn't use a waste gate but just changes the a/r around the exhaust so you have the perfect size turbo all the time. Basically full boost from about 1500 rpm.
Im using a vacuum operated actuator referenced of boost. Sounds weird I will post pics as I do it. I cant wait to get this thing on the road like this.
