xj Cherokee rims with better offset

Post by SP450andLE »

My mate is wanting to get some different wheels for his newly acquired xj, 'cos currently the 31s rub on the inner gaurds.

And chop told us that if you get rims with better offset (techinccal term, 'cos I totally understand the finer details of offset  ), the tyres stop rubbing and we can get up to 33s under there.

So what's the best offset?

And does anyone have any suitable rims?

Cheers. :D

dunno much about that jeep shit but your mate might find he has to lift it as well to get 33" tahs under there if its already got rub with 31's, to get wider offset rims he'll need to find out what offset the current rims are so he knows where to start from or he wont know what offset he's looking for, its usually marked on the rim somewhere, if he dosent know anything about offset googles a good place to find out and I think there is or was some stuff on 4wdbits site

Ok, we'll probably stick to 31s or 32s tbh.

But atm it rubs on the inner gaurds on full lock (not sure about when it's flexing, we'll have to check that later on) with the standard rims.

So by getting some with zero or some sort of negative offset it'll sit them out wider so the nice new tahs don't rub.

Or are we just being stupid?

Rubbing on the inner gaurd on full lock I think?

Will have a better look later on.

Some cutting may be done soon... 8)

On my TJ with standard rims (same as XJ etc) and 31s there is some rubbing on full lock left, mainly on lower control arm because of lift, but also notice the rear tires are very close to rear tracbar mount(can't fit finger between tire and mount). But with my -24 offset steelies and 33s no rubbing at all anywhere even under full flex. Correct me if I'm wrong but I understand that the standard rims were put on so they complied with the guard/tread coverage rules we have here in NZ
