USB adapter

Post by kiwipete »

Made a small switching unit for a trial to use with two webcams. Can switch between two webcams for different views etc when using them for recording off roading.
I must say Elmo's trial on Saturday was very successful and that made me think about this device.

Coz most comps prolly cant handle 2+ cameras at a time. And his box is going to be capable of 4.

what are you doing with the footage from them? like putting it straight into a laptop and recording it with premiere or something?

I would have though most computers could have handled it with a 2nd usb port... but never tried it actually...

Ive never tried it either,

Yes, just recording direct to a lappy, at this stage with the software provided. Microsoft movie maker I have since found can do capture also, so am going to try that as well.

Carl at http://www.logicalchoice.co.nz/ has a few bits and pieces :D I have been meaning to hook up my infra red lense aimed at the winch so that I don't wind the plasma over the ends again - makes big nasty bang  and you crap yourself when you drop back a couple of feet

Can't wait till its going :) .. my big problem is screens. I ordered a 7" sony tft, just the screen no surround or anything for $99USD but they ran out... :( Have been keeping an eye on trademe for cheap LCD's but no luck yet. I think I might end up buying a 15" TFT (about $250) then removing the mains PSU and putting a transformer in so it'll run on 12V. All the small screens over here are far to expensive. The problem is trying to find a VGA TFT rather than a TV TFT. I've got two laptops with working screens that I'm going to rip apart and see if I can re-wire. Really need an oscilloscope to work out the pin outs.

I was helping to build camera systems for Shotover Jet in Queenstown, so have been looking to do the same thing. If I get it right, I'll have a button on the dash to start/stop recording.
