2nd 3rd and 4th June Queens Bday

Post by kbushnz »

Well I will kick this one off, must be the only one at home
Got replacement door for the playdo and fitted it.
Swapped the glass around and changed door card.
Door is blue and rest of the truck is green... Ahhh who cares, all the same colour when covered in mud 8)
Need to get it ready for WOF this month.
Next mod is playing with the auto's valve body... Got a kit coming in from the States..
Cheers Calvin

Well good start to the weekend slept in to 10:30, got up and had a coffee, then I replaced the old battery with a 880CCA Odyssey Battery, tidy up the bird nest of wires in the engine bay, will test air compressor on Sunday.

On a non 4WD note managed to get my 1/8th scale Gas powered Radio Controlled car working, very happy with that, this is another one of my toys

Mates XJ smelt like crap, so started pulling carpet out to clean it all up a bit.

To cut a long story short, there's a couple of big rust holes on the drivers floor. Not the best thing to find after buying it
Lucky he works at a truck fabricators 8)

^^^^Don't worry Calvin, multi coloured panels all good^^^^

Replaced turbo that let go last weekend as a couldn't be arsed doing during the week. I think the boost controller needs some attention or replacement because with it hooked up and wound out to max, can only get 14psi :(
Disconnected it will pull 22psi 8)
Trouble is, i want a nice safe 18psi :)
Had to clean all the oil out of the intercooler and the exhaust
Washed cooler with fuel-lite and took it for a hard long run down the motorway to burn the oil out of exhaust :P
Here's the turbo. Don't think the exhaust turbine is supposed on the piss :?

Check out the oil in the dump pipe

Finished work at 5 on friday night, picked up one of my kids on way home, quickly threw some gear in the car and headed off to rallywoods!!

Marshalled on Fawk hill/Calums way, great to see some of the awsome team work and amusing to watch some not so good team work! lol...

Turned out to be a bit of a carnage track with roof's dented, winches broken and even an engine retireing!
...and no I didn't get the corolla stuck all weekend!!
Enjoyed the weekend down there, thanks to the guys who organise it all!!

Dogg.
It's just more fun in a lada !!

Helped my mate take the bullbars off his xj today.

God there are some dodgy welds on that thing, mainly the 'custom' brackets

Anyone want some alloy bullbars for an xj? :D

picked up a 60 series power steering box in great nick for cheap, as well as a pto winch (still need the pto and the shafts). :D had a good read/think and a chat with my mechanic/fabricator about the land rover and it'll be going into my garage for an soa conversion on 60series axels as well as getting power steering. will throw up some pics as it gets done. will be a slow process as i havnt got 80% of the parts or even put the truck in the garage to start work on it.

cheers

Are you sure it rings and not the turbo shit itself as a blown turbo will do the same push all the oil straight out exhaust

we took camm8 with us + new guy in v6 toranno, so long day but then again we made it so, :D , porters is still fun, getting a lot of use it seems.
NA its rings to much pressure in the sump blowby, pulled a joint apart only thin smear of oil + no smoke when driving :( . never mind pull it new rings bearings, balance the crank, clean head up new guides, seals a bit of porting we should be way again.
not saying the turbo did this, the engine allways had a bit of blow by its 234,000km

sorted out the front alignment in my Surf. also noticed i've managed to bend the arm on the steering relay box adjusting the toe-in. in hindsight jumping on the stilsons probably wasn't the best idea. made up a hori nudge bar to fill the hole in front of the radiator. Will do till i've got time to make something useful.

So much easier messing with a dereg truck.

had our annual trip up to taihape over the weekend.was a great weekend .had about 10 trucks turn up .found some awesome bogs to play in .locker gave up the ghost early on saturday so to compensate lifted the rev limiter on the link computer to 6800rpm ,was singin after that :D .got stuck big time in one bog and took nearly 2 hours to get out .had to use about 40mtrs of cable plus a triple pull on a pto winch to move me.amazing what 1/2 ton of mud does to a truck.had a go at a one we previously nick named strop bog and managed to get airbourne going into it .then all my recovery gear disintergrated my box holding it all and it all flew into the air at about the same time as my bonnet flew up. a little bit of panic set in and i slipped the clutch for a couple of seconds and then sunk to the bottom .the boys had a good laugh . my boy hurt himself a bit when we landed so took it a bit easier after that.all in all a good weekend .one thing i will say thou is that cool bananas rally truck sounds like a top fuel dragster on song.was awesome hearing it echo round the valley as we played Image Image Image

Headed off to the Mangahao Dams with the wife and a mate.

Great little trip with a bit of mud on the main track and some very cool side tracks with some mud and water holes. Best workout the cruiser has had yet.

Well its still my weekend(gotta love week on week off :D ) since it was pissing down and the truck doesnt fit in the garage now. So I thought id start stripping down the back guard on the Falcoon. Been sitting in the garage all lonely for a few years now... Ended up being a case of find the metal!! ahh well, will cut it out and stitch in a new piece now I reckon. Thought I should get it on the road before any new dumb cert laws come in.

Bog was an inch think..

You may think why the f*ck just do that bit. But im keeping it this way. Repair the rear guard, touch it up in lacquer and then lacquer clearing the whole car to try preserve the old paint a bit.
