nissan safari y60 timing marks??

I have re assembled my engine and run it , but it is blowing heaps of smoke and rattling like the proverbial!!
The timing gears for the injection pump dont have the usual dots to enable correct alignment of these, so cant figure out if i have correct timing of pump.
One gear(the driven one-on pump) has a "J" and "ZZ"
The drive gear has one dot , and then two dots in another spot.
Can anyone enlighten me as to which marks are the correct ones please?
Have tried several combinations of these marks but no success.
Any advice would be appreciated. cheers, Paul

what engine 4.2 or rd28 or rb30 petrol diesel? what?

post 1994 only had one mark on the crank shaft sprocket. places #one cylinder at TDC,

Motor is a td42 non turbo . there are no timing marks on the drive wheel for the fuel injection pump.

yes there is, its two v's or a w same on the cam wheel grank on tdc and two marks to match




this is photo of me setting up mine need to have the gears meahed so as they rotate they line up on the makes as pump indent dosn't let you set them up any other way

Cant believe that i had the motor at tdc several times,and couldnt see the z lol! i found it today, and it was very faint, but now truck is hummin again. Cheers for the advice-much appreciated. Paul
