Nissan Safari LWB shortened an VG30DETT fitted.

Post by Craigs4wd »

Hi Guys
i have a Nissan Safari LWB
This has been cut down to a ute (By previous owner)
Then i shortened its chassis
Fitted triangulated 4 link in rear
Fitted 5 link in front with panhard rod
Slipped the VG30DETT motor an Safari auto.
The motor is twin turbo an twin water to air intercooled.
Have hydraulic superwinch to go in. hopping to run pump off crank pulley.
Have spent many hours on it an many more to come.

will try to keep update as i go.

Yer my mate owns it now, you guys also shoe horned a v8 cruzer motor into A 105 series cruiser, was it hard? Reckon you could do it to a sheep shager and mate it to the auto if i "killed" the motor haha

this truck you mean?yeah i did fit the v8 into that cruiser. yeah took lots of thinking. the v8 is a big engine.very tight for room. gear shift was a mission radiators an so on. but turned out great an was very nice to drive. think it would be to tight for sheep shaggers.

unsure on how much cooling will be needed so mounted 2 radiators back to back. didn't want to loose vision with taller radiators.need to look for a inline water pump now.

Haha talked to a chap the other day who's a wiz on these motors an was quietly surprised to here what power can be reliably extracted form these motors. who knows tho. i have allowed enough room for a v8.
also need crowns with different colored traces so it would be easier to follow them.

The Nissan VG30DETT twin power steer pump removed (one part for power steering an the other for the 4 wheel steering which the cars have.)
another one adaptered which appears the same physical size as the Nissan patrol one.

also found i needed to lower shock towers 50mm to allow the springs to be just captive an as i have to bring bump stops down to prevent new steering system hitting panhard rod mount, i didn't want to loose shock travel.
