ARB MUDFEST 2012

Post by Filthy4x4 »

Hey all,

I have had a chat to Gary Stirling this evening.

We have decided on a date for the next ARB MUDFEST.

Now's the time to start swingin' your spanners and saving your gas vouchers

JULY 7TH at Hampton Downs is where all the action is going down.

Prices are as follows:

$20 for entrants
$5 for spectators

We still have some planning to do but we are aiming to get some new features such as:

*Promo Girls - Get a photo of your truck with some lovely ladies for a small fee

*Good photo coverage

*Spot prizes

* ARB MUDFEST branded apparel

This is going to be an ongoing event, which we hope will take NZ 4wd events to a whole new level, get involved and get FILTHY

Further details to come.

Feel free to ask questions or leave suggestions.

Cheers

Caleb

LOAS? I know you've said it before, but cant remember it lol

Oh and Caleb, is there going to be a bit more order this time? Like actually enforcing the rules about the tractor being the only recovery unit, and having to sign indemnity forms?

Or is going to be like last time, lax as?

Were now down to nearly 5 weeks to go

Just out of curiosity whos coming to get stuck

We have been working hard behind the scenes to make this event as big as possible.

We have a few spot left for trade stands if anyone is interested!

Also is there any interest for club stands this time round?

At this stage I think we will be limiting (and enforcing) the paddock to 20 trucks at a time for a set period with a 10-15min window in between to allow for recoveries.

Any questions you can get hold of me on 027 683 4327.

Cheers

should be there i think...

can you make sure there is sufficient wash down facilitys this time please, no offence to the water guys who were there last year, but only letting me use the hose to clean my wheels off? before driving back up SH1 was a bit of a piss off.

cheers

Yup we have already had a chat about this.

We will try to get the best option there as it will also help keep the road clean.

Wasn't this event kind of ho-hum last year?

I didn't go (and dont wanna bag it) but reports were pretty average.

What is the programme of the day, will it be interesting for serious trucks or is it more of a "spin my little wheels on my shiny truck in some paddocks" kind of deal?

Are you actually serious?

At the end of the day last year, I'm fairly sure nobody had been stuck less than 5 or so times

This however looks more like it and maybe with some time we could get something like this going here in NZ.

Like I said I'm not bagging it but what they do in the US is quite contrasting, good on the organisers for having a crack though.

That was my video. That was just day out there before water was added.

No, we didn't pay for this, but i was happy to pay on the day.
Only managed to get stuck twice  Once when a front hub uncoupled and second when getting a little ambitious.

These pictures were taken very early in the day. By the time we went home the whole two paddocks were one big swamp.

Hey mate,

I wouldn't go as far as saying the event was ho-hum, it was the first of its kind in NZ so a mixed response was expected, we had to test the water some how.

It went well, and as you can probably gather the majority of people (including spectators and stand holders) enjoyed themselves and have been asking for another one.

This time round we know what is wanted and are working our asses off behind the scenes to make this one bigger and better.

We didn't have many complaints about anything, just little things that were "off field" based.

As for tiny wheeled shineys spinning their wheels, isn't that needed for growing the 4wd scene?

New people trying things out in a safe environment thats not going to get them in trouble for trespassing and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to do.

Regardless of whats been said I encourage people to come and check it out for themselves , new or old, shiney or tough truck, we will have something for everyone.

Cheers

Also, lincooln's zuki got absolutely flooded inside by 2 different types of mud.

I should have avoided the big holes

Oh, we should have more of the twisty bumpy bits this year caleb, good for those of us who don't have the money to make our trucks super capable

I've made the $20 payment online and entered for the day, the 40 is in need of some love after the weekend mission so its all hands on deck to prepare.
