advice/abuse wanted

Post by mfrsr »

i've got a truck. it needs tyres, i haven't got any money.

what i do have is a set of swamper TSL's, 32x9x16. which happens to be the closest size i can find to 7.50 r16 - the size i need for the back of the truck at least. These tyres don't owe me anything, i've sold and bought them back twice now and they've paid for themselves. They're actually pretty hard to sell, they're no use for any ute with power.

so what im thinking is can i put them on the duals of the truck? The load rating per tyre is 1380kg for the TSL's, 1320kg for the LT's that are on there. is it going to be much of a change going to a crossply tyre? TSL's are crossplies.

Truck isn't used for business. at best it'll see 8000km a year. more like 2000km, i bought it for a housetruck and a tow wagon.

should be fine mate, one thing to watch though is that the sidewalls dont touch as they are a wider tyre.
Its better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

They MUST have an air gap when fully flexed, not only not touch. I'd also suspect they will be too wide for the rims...

on that note, one of the spreader trucks at work, the rear duals touch with no load - wheel off the ground. there's contact round the whole circumference. it doesn't have any problems with cof. afaik it's been like that for 5 years or so, since they changed to bigger tyres.

custom rims for them are about $10k per truck. tyres are currently $1850 each. 425/75 r20.

also skid, you can buy 'em once im done with them :D they've literally been used only once since that flatdeck zuki i had.

so it seems you never use them, therefore you should sell them to me and they will get more use and remember they will be cheap when you sell them to me, I'm pretty sure those rims you got your swampers on were fairly cheap

Seriously? Does it do much road miles? And they give it a cof!

Love the tractor tyres :)

^ about 60 000km a season. though the tyres usually do a season on the front first, then another on the duals.

measured my truck rims. tyres are too wide, oh well.

Better idea, someone buy this:  i can buy tyres once i've sold it :D
